I AM SO GLAD TO SEE you HERE!

“I am passionate about exploring the beauty of brokenness and suffering, advocating for the oppressed and showing the beauty of the cultures I find wherever I am.”

Let me tell you a bit about myself…

I grew up thinking I was not creative. I believed this about myself for years. But then, kind of by accident, I became a photographer! And as I did photography more and more, I got kind of good at it. :) (Amazing what practice will do!) I have been a photographer now for 25+ years and it is still my main creative endeavour and the thing I most love to do.

However, as the years have gone by, I have begun to explore new creative territory. I have written a children's book, am working on a novel and sometimes write haiku (poetry). I have taught myself how to do mono-printing with a Gelli plate. I am exploring embroidering my photographs and using collage to tell broader stories than is possible with a single photograph. I enjoy graphic design and design most of my own books and logos. I am increasingly interested in multimedia exhibitions and printing photographs onto fabric on a large scale. And I just finished a project creating t-shirts that I hope will advocate for the Uyghur people. You can see them (and order one! :)) on this page.

As you can see, I have lots of ideas! Especially as it relates to using my photography and art for advocacy for the Uyghur people - a people we lived amongst for 8 years in their homeland and now live amongst in Istanbul, Turkiye. I can't wait to see where my art takes me next and what projects I will get to make!
